The HierophantMajor Arcana V
The Hierophant
tradition · learning · mentorship · shared values · belonging
Today you learn best from someone who has already walked the path. Ask for advice, open a good book or honor a ritual that grounds you.
⬆️ Upright
The Hierophant sits between two pillars and raises his hand in blessing over two kneeling students, with a pair of crossed keys at his feet. He represents tradition, teaching, institutions and the wisdom that gets passed down through generations. This card often points to a mentor, a course, a ritual or a community that shares your values and gives you a sense of belonging. Sometimes the proven path really is the smart one, and there is no shame in learning the rules before you bend them.
⬇️ Reversed
Reversed, the rules feel too tight or simply wrong for you. It may be time to question a tradition and write your own guidebook. Rebellion is fine, as long as you know what you stand for instead.
💞 Love
Shared values and commitment take center stage, and the question is less about chemistry and more about where you are both heading. Talk about what matters to each of you in the long run, not only about what feels good today.
💼 Career
Learning from someone experienced pays off now, so do not be too proud to ask. Training, qualifications or tried and tested processes give you a solid boost and a reputation for doing things properly.
👁 Tradition, he says. I was there when this tradition was invented. It was a Thursday and it rained.
